It took me a loooong time to realize that you had to go to the post office to mail a letter. I had always thought you just had to leave anything you wanted to mail in your mailbox and the mailman would pick it up for you at the same time he dropped off your new mail.
A childhood belief about in the street

others believed things like this
- i used to think that the word e-mail was a sex, like male, female and e-mail.
I'm so thick!— Confoozed - I waited for the mail to come on my 11th birthday so that I could get my letter to Hogwarts... It never came.— Charlie
- I thought when i was a kid, that all mailboxes had tubes that brought your mail to the person u sent it to.— Andrew
- When my sister told one of my brothers her e-mail address, he thought to spell out “at” instead of typing “@”.— EJ - no longer computer illiterate!
- I always thought that a little person lived inside each mailbox waiting to take my letter to its destination.— Anne
- I used to think that the word mailman came from the fact that the mailman was a male. I don't really know why.— Andi
