My mom used to tell us to eat the skins of things like apples and potatoes, because she said that's where all the vitamins are. She also always made us eat the crusts of our bread, for the same reason - it took me an embarassingly long time to figure out that scam.

I remember being over at my best friend's house when I was in kindergarten, and we were eating sandwiches. I got her mom to cut the crusts off for me, and Kymberly (my friend) tried to convince me to eat them by telling me that crusts made you whistle good. Being not able to whistle, I thought it was because I didn't eay my crusts. So I started eating them...but to this day, I can barely whistle.

My uncle told me that eating bread crust would put hair on my chest. Being a girl, hair on the chest was NOT a desirable trait. I refused to eat another crust of bread.

When I was little, my Dad used to tell me that if you left the crusts of pizza in the box and put it in the trash (in our garage) that the pizza would grow back. I remember hiding the pizza box in the garage just waiting for new pizza to grow onto the old crusts!

I used to think that the heal of the bread had no crust on it. This lasted until about age 5, but i managed to convince my younger brother of it also, and he believed it long after i realised the truth.

When my brother was young I told him if he ate the hole around the doughnut he would die.
To this day, he's 34 now, he leaves a small round crust so that he doesn't eat the hole =)
