I used to believe that the Beatles, Phil Collins, Elton John, Tears for Fears, Def Leppard, Steve Winwood, etc. were american, because they did not sound like they had british accents while they sang.
When I was really little I'd only heard of Michael Jackson, never seen him. My parents were watching tv and there was one of his videos on, in which a mob break into an old spooky mansion and Michael Jackson was dancing there. I thought that M.J. was a girl and therefore this old man with glasses who was the head of the mob was Michael Jackson. I like my MJ better.
I thought the lead singer of Flogging Molly was a girl. I was wrong.
when I first heard of Eminem I thought his name was spelt m&m.
Me and my friend use to believe lil romoe and lil bow wow were the same person.
I was about five when I first saw Britney Spears on a music video and I thought she was Rosa Parks for some reason. No clue why.
When I was 11, I started getting into music, and Foreigner, at the time, ruled the radio. I therefore thought they were considered universally one of the all-time great bands, alongside the Beatles.
At one point during my life, this was the equation I thought I understood:
Charles Manson = Marilyn Manson = Same Person
When I was little, I thought that Iggy Pop was a really just an old pop band. :P

on bbc 2 (a TV channel in the UK), there is a man who works on the channel called Michael Jackson! It is scary because I sometimes think that it is the real popstar working on there!
I was a big fan of S Club 7 (UK pop music group) as a child and thought they would stay together until I was old enough to join them and become their 8th member! It never happened
i was obsessed with the spice girls and was convinced that at any time i would bump into them in the street and they would ask me to be the 6th member so i learned all their songs and was always looking out for them wherever i went
When i was little someone told me that madonna (no offence) used to rip off the snouts of dogs after her preformance, just to scare me
i used to think that everyone on Top Of The Pops I saw always came from the United Kingdom. But then I realised that loads of different popstars come from different countries
I used to think Kenny Wayne Shepherd and the oldest Hanson boy were the same people. Now I just call him Kenny Wayne Hanson.
Until just today, as a matter of fact (I'm 22) I thought Phil Collins was American...because he didn't have an accent when he sang!!! I found on this site that he's British! :D
I thought Janis Joplin was black until I was about 19.
When I was around the age of five, the singing group that I was in total adoration of and wanted to join when I grew up was the Claymation Raisins. Back then I also used to believe that the Raisins were ants. Now, whether they're ants or food, I still think they're one of the best musical groups of yesteryear.
When I Was 3-8 Years Old, I Used To Believe That Michael Jackson Was The Greatest Person On Earth, Because Of His Signature Move; The Moon Walk.
