I thought that The Beach Boys were a school band made up of people in my brother's year. In 1994, I was quite shocked (and confused) to learn that one of them had died in 1983...

When I was about 11 or 12 I thought that Pink Floyd was pop singer Pink's full name. I also thought that Yoyo Ma and Yoko Ono were the same person.

When I was younger I thought that Sid Vicious (who played bass in The Sex Pistols) and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen were the real-life Ken and Barbie who the dolls were modelled on. I believed that together they sang "I'm a Barbie Girl" by pop band Aqua. I was devastated when some one told me that Sid and Nancy were dead and Sid was suspected to have murdered her.

Because of MAD Magazine, I believed that Elvis died while on the john, with a tub of KFC in his lap.

When I was younger, I asked my mom who Elvis was. She said that he was a person who said "yes" to drugs. For a long time, I used to think that was all he was known for.

My wife thought she was Elvis mother when she was 4. It was 1977 the same year he died.

When I was 11 and 12, I used to love The Monkees (corny 60s band) so much that I prayed I could travel back in time just so I could meet them. Obviously, my prayers weren't answered because I'm still here, about a decade later....

Also, my parents don't really like the Beatles and I just couldn't understand why when I was a kid (about 6 or 7). So to put to rest my confusion, I decided that my parents had at one time been good friends with John, Paul, George, and Ringo and had had a huge argument which led to them never speaking to one another again.

Yeah, I was an imaginative kid.

I lived in a fantasy land when I was a kid: I was convinced that all the people I saw on Top of the Pops lived in the same village (In Somerset, Enland) as me. This included the Jackson Family.

My brother recently told a memeber of this family that I used to believe he was a member of the Jacksons and, funnily enough, he wasn't all that impressed.

Can't think why...

I thought the band Steely Dan was called that because the leader was named Dan. Until one day my parents were talking about the band and said they didn't know what the singer's name was and I said "isn't it Dan" Me very embarrassed parents then explained what a Steely Dan was ..

My initials are REM, so I always thought the R.E.M. albums that my parents owned were connected to me somehow.

When I was about 8 years old, one of my Mum's favourite singers died. She had quite a few of his records. I thought that these records would now become silent. (Don't really know why I thought this as I had worked out that when playing the records, the singer wasn't actually in the record player).

If an artist was performing I always thought if their children needed something like a glass of water then the artist would have to stop performing and do it for them.

When I was 12, I thought Led Zeppelin was a person and not a band. I thought his brother might have been Ed Zeppelin.
