Near dark when I was little, I used to see those planes that leave a long line of smoke behind them. I thought they were giant zippers that were unzipping the sky. I thought that's what made it get dark.
When I was little I used to beleive that whenever someone went to the toilet in an aeroplane, the flight attendants would push a button that opened where the poo went and it would go down onto earth.
When I was young I used to think that the twin lights I'd see way up in the sky were car lights on a faraway mountain road. My dad told me they were.
I used to believe that when you flew in an airplane, and looked down, you would see the states outlines just like on a map.
i used to beleive that when i was flying in an airplane i thought i would see a bunch of dead people on top of the clouds.
I used to live under the flightpath for a busy airport.
At night, as the jets flew over, I always expected that an engine would fall off the plane and pulverise me in my bed.
The whine the turbines made as they throttled down for landing sounded just like something big and heavy falling...
I used to think that the exhaust smoke coming from jets as they streaked across the sky actually made the clouds.
I live in the city of christchurch (New Zealand) The nearby hills are a part of what is known as Banks Peninsula, and Christchurch is in the Province of Canterbury. This part of NewZealand is very flat geographicaly and referred to as the Canterbury plains. The local weather forcast always started as follows....For Christchurch, Banks Peninsula and "the plains" until midnight tonight......My interpratation as a young child? I knew I lived in cristchurch, knew the hills were banks peninsula, and was very satisfied thinking that midnight was when "the planes" stopped flying at the airport
Once, When we were on a plane taking off my brother said whoa big hill when the plane was going up into the sky.
once one a flight to Menorca those ladys that always smile and take the drinks round they were doing the safty talk and my brother shouted out "i don't want to jump.
When I saw a plane flying above me I started jumping and waving with my hands crying "Take me with you". I used to believe people would see me and take me with them.
I used to believe that after you went to the bathroom in an airplane, a hatch would open up in the bottom of the plane and dump the waste out into the air.
when i was young, i used to believe that you can go to heaven by riding on a plane..
I used to believe that they had to shrink people to get them into airplanes that were so tiny in the sky.
When I was younger my brother told me that the white streaks of smoke that a jet leaves in the sky would kill me if they fell on my head, but only if there were two streaks of smoke. I believed him.
When I was fairly young, I had seen parts of a few movies involving commercial airplane crashes on television. This gave me the impression that most planes crashed. I was quite frightened when I found out my grandfather would be flying overseas!
When I was little, my grandfather told me that the trails of condensation behind jets were people being thrown out of the plane because it was too heavy!
my dad told me that corn fields were grown from the airplanes... when they were done with the flight they would release all the poop from the plane's bathroom.. :( i didn't eat corn for a long time.
when i was little i used to think that the airplains that would fly over my house would come down and capture me(my dad told me that he saw me duck and run across the yard one day!) p.s im still scared of them, and also big hawks/birds!
When I was little, every time I saw and heard an aeroplane pass overhead I thought it was a bomber and that we were at war, so I'd run inside and only emerge when the danger had passed.
