When I was learing briefly about plate techtonics and they siade "Under the ground the Earth moves" so I thought that the dead people under the ground would be split up into teeny tiny pieces and shifted underground.

I used to believe that the creek and wooded area behind my house led to a far away land where magical things went.

That creek was a special place to me in my childhood, we went there often with the neighbor kids and played in it. It was my own wilderness oasis.

I used to believe that when the clouds were catching the sunlight in just the right way that it would appear "beams" were coming from the heavens, that it was God's way of saying it was going to be a good day. I wish I still had that kind of faith in things like "good days" as I did then.

I used to live in a valley, with mountains either side of us. When my mum told me that people would go driving up the mountain, I could never work out why I couldn't see them. I thought that the smooth looking outline of the mountain (the tree tops) was where the cars would drive.

i used to believe that the world consisted of a flat bit of ground, with a few different coloured layers beneath it, with my street and all the houses lined up on that dirt, and the sky above. I must have been 3 or 4.

I though that behind mountains in my town there was a kind of heavenly place with water falls, riots of flowers, fruits -the most delicious in the world-and lovely animals from little birds to enormous elephants. I always kept my secret until now when I posted it.

In grade two, a really gulliable girl in my class went on a holiday to nepal. She came back a few weeks later, and at show and tell she showed the class the piece of mountain she had bought. When I went home that afternoon, I begged my mum to take us to Nepal, so I could get a piece of mountain too. I thought that if I had some mountain, I could cover the world in lava. Then my mum told me that what that girl had brought back was only dirt.

When the BBC used to show a graphic of the rotating globe (who else remembers the old 70s blue & orange logo?), I remember looking at the coastlines of the Americas and Africa, and thinking "They look like they could join up... I wonder if anyone's noticed?"

Having grown up in the city, I thought that pavement was the natural state of the world, that lawns were where the cement had been removed, and that curbs were how deep the soil was.

In a picturesque way, I used to think that a meadow, instead of being one whole field, was just a corner of one, preferably next to a pond, with a small bump as a mini hill.

When I was 3, one day I was out in the garden with my mammaw. There was sunflowers that were over 7ft tall in the garden. I used to believe they were trees. So I told my mammaw, "I'm was gonna stomp down the big trees." So I did and when I finally got it to stomp down there was a big red worm under it. I screamed "Its a snake mammaw." WE both ran to the house and my pappaw came outside with a gun and when he saw the red worm he started laughing really hard. He said " Honey, its only a worm." I said "Well, whats the difference?"
