I used to believe that every time that it was raining, God was peeing and every time it hailed, God was pooping little balls of ice on us.
I thought that power stations made clouds, that was their only job and that's the only reason we had clouds.
I used to believe that when the clouds used to come down over the mountains as it got darker that they were tucking the mountains in for bed
I believed that when it rained it was only raining on my family.... that there was only one cloud above our house or car just following us wherever we would go. I used to think that I would give anything just so the damn cloud would go away and rain on some other family. LOL!!!!
I grew up in New England, and every winter I'd notice a correlation between snow and ice on nearby lakes. I thought it went like this: When the weather gets cold enough, you get snow. When that snows falls on a lake, it mixes with the water to make ice (like jello). I firmly believed until I was about 11 or 12 that ice could not appear without snow, and if it did, it just meant it snowed while I was asleep.
My mom taught kindergarten for many years, and when there was a pretty good chance of snow the next day, she'd tell them all to wear their pajamas inside out to make it snow. A lot of them believed her.
My mother used to tell me that if you walk in the rain without an umbrella, you would get lice. I'm 30 years old now, but I still get a strange nervousness when I get caught without a brolly in the rain.
I used to think clouds were countries!
When it rain, i though God just threw a bucket of water to water the plants.
i used to believe that it was illegal for it to rain on Sundays ("Sun's" day). I couldn't quite figure out who would get arrested (possibly my minister at my church) but i knew that if i ever got rained on on a sunday that i would be a suspect.
when i was little, maybe 4 or 5...i really believed there was "a pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow...we would take long family drives, and if a rainbow was spotted , my mother would say keep looking for the pot of gold , and i would watch for the end of that rainbow, not taking my eyes off it...hoping to see one...lol
I used to believe that rainbows were like the Lottery. Every rainbow was supposed to have a pot of gold at the end of it and I always wondered whose yard it landed in after it rained.
My brother once convinced me that the wind was "leftover hurricanes"
I believe that it would rain when God would be having a shower or washing his clothes.
I used to believe that when the weatherman announced that there was a 30% chance of rain, it meant that it was going to rain 30% of the day. It always seemed to be raining during the summers of my youth.
I used to be convinced that rain happened when God was taking a shower; snow happened when God had dandruff; lightning was when the lightbulbs in God's house burned out, and the following thunder was when God got angry because the lights had gone out and then growled (or something like that) at them.
I used to believe that when it rained, GOD was peeing, and when it thundered, GOD was angry.
I used to think that the clouds moving makes wind.
when i was young i used to think hail was made out salt water, like from the ocean
I also used to believe that the song "Rain Rain, Go Away," could actually make the rain go away if sung enough times! Many were the times when I would stand by the window, dutifully, singing "Rain rain, go away, come again another day. All the children want to play... Rain rain, go away," etc. When the rain stopped, I used to think it was because of my singing "Rain Rain, Go Away." In my defence, I was only five at the time!
