When I was a little boy, when we were in our car and we traveled, I used to believe that in the others cars, there was nobody. And the cars were driving alone. One day, I asked my father if the cars drove alone, and he said to me that some people drove the cars. I was very chocked because I thought they were automatic.

When I was a little girl, I used to believe the cars moved for ward with the smoke coming out of the car. But one day, I saw a car without smoke but wich moved for ward. So, my parents explained to me the cars moved for ward with a motor. After that, I was a little disappointed because it's not very funny...

If the lights in the car were on, you'd get arrested by the police

I used to believe that car exhaust pipes were what propelled cars, instead of the engines.

I once thought that the octane numbers on gas tanks were the years they had been manufactured in (ex: 87 octane was actually '87 octane), and that 93 octane (called Ultra 93) had just come out that year.

When I was a little boy I used to think that the people who drove cars must learn all the road by heart . Often I saw some cars who were not driving on the middle of de road and i thought these people did'nt leran their rules. I believed that because we said "rules of the road" . I discover it was wrong because one time my father had an accident andn I understood the people don't learn the road by heart

When I was 3, I used to believe that motorways were big conveyor belts because why would everyone on a motorway agree to drive fast? Let’s just say, I wasn’t the smartest kid.

I used to think that there was some kind of portal to my hometown from Southern California, because I recall us driving out of SoCal and suddenly ending up in my hometown: turns out I was just asleep for that whole time but woke up later.

I used to believe that "carpooling" meant you were outside the car and pushing/pulling it to your destination.

When I was a child I compared cars with us and now that I am older I see that if there is some truth to that, what I liked the most was that I imagined a face for each model of car that I saw

I believed that if the car I was riding in ran over the match that someone had just thrown out of their window, that we would blow up.

In Italian the word for “steering wheel” is very similar to the word for “fly”, so I used to think that the steering wheel was a button you could push to make your car fly. I was seriously disappointed because my parents didn’t use it!

I thought it was illegal to own a minivan if you lived in Arizona. I have no idea how I thought that.
