When I was 3, I used to believe that motorways were big conveyor belts because why would everyone on a motorway agree to drive fast? Let’s just say, I wasn’t the smartest kid.
I thought carpool lanes were for cars...with pools. Could NOT understand how the water didn't slosh out. I definitely pictured the cars as limos.
I used to think that there was some kind of portal to my hometown from Southern California, because I recall us driving out of SoCal and suddenly ending up in my hometown: turns out I was just asleep for that whole time but woke up later.
I used to think that the music from a car radio came out of the heater/air vents in the dashboard.
I used to believe that "carpooling" meant you were outside the car and pushing/pulling it to your destination.
When I was a child I compared cars with us and now that I am older I see that if there is some truth to that, what I liked the most was that I imagined a face for each model of car that I saw
I thought human trafficking just meant people breaking traffic laws, and didn't get why people were so outraged about it
I believed that if the car I was riding in ran over the match that someone had just thrown out of their window, that we would blow up.
In Italian the word for “steering wheel” is very similar to the word for “fly”, so I used to think that the steering wheel was a button you could push to make your car fly. I was seriously disappointed because my parents didn’t use it!
when I was a kid I used to look out of the car thinking a clown would attack me
I thought a Gas Chamber was just a place you went to put gas in your car!
I thought it was illegal to own a minivan if you lived in Arizona. I have no idea how I thought that.
I used to think that petrol was car food to make it go faster. And if you didn't feed it it would die and never work again.
I used to think that people who were speeding past a speed camera would have to cover their faces with their hands so the speed camera would not recognise them.
I used to think every family had a car and a truck since that's what we had. I had no idea why people would borrow trucks.
When I was a kid, I always heard the phrase "don't drink and drive".
I thought it was because if you had a few drinks of alcohol while driving, it would instantly make you drunk beyond all reason.
I thought there was something that happened when you combined driving with a few sips of booze.
When I was little I thought drinking and driving meant you couldn't drink anything while driving. So when I was little and I saw my mom drinking Pepsi while she was driving the car, I'd get very worried that she'd get arrested or we'd all get killed.
When I was a child I used to believe that a camper was some kind of resort.
Kid me thought that only old people were allowed to own and drive Oldsmobile cars. After all, it's right in the name, isn't it?
We used to have a really small old car. As a lot of other cars were much bigger I used to think that our car was just a baby car and other cars were adult cars.
This made me think that cars could grow and petrol was their food. I believed that if we kept feeding our car petrol it would become bigger and faster like "adult" cars
