when i was a kid, i believed that sea monkies were evil because they would drown people that comes near them. i was nervous to go near a big body of water for years.
I used to think that sowbugs would eat large holes in your skin, so whenever I saw them I would instantly kill them and all other sowbugs in the vicinity. I would also check the area around my bed regularly. It got so bad that I was even scared to eat certain foods, for fear that a sowbug may be hiding in the middle.
Once i watch eight legged freaks and when the part with the guy getting shocked by a stun gun i was scared cus my brother said if i get a electric shock some giant spiders will come and eat me
My mum told me that saying 'sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite' and that used to scare the living daylights out of me!!
When i was five, a huge praying mantis somehow landed right in the middle of my shrit as i was walking with my dad. I FREAKED OUT and sent the poor thing flying. Whenever i saw a mantis after that i thought it was the same one and i avoided it at all cost. i thought it would try to get revene on me for what i did
i used to balive that when you flushed a bug down the toilet it would come back up bigger and hunt you down...
When i was little, my aunt told me and my sister that lightning bugs turned into french fries. so one night she caught one and then brought it inside with out us seeing and then put a french frie in a frying pan.....we believed it was true for the longest time!
my dad use to believe and i think still believes that if you have tapeworm and you hold a raw steak near your mouth then the tapeworm will come crawling out from your body through your mouth
I was told when I was young that when that when you step on a spider that it will make it rain the next day.
My Nana told me that moths lay eggs in your hair. I still hate moths to this day.
After being told by my older borther, I used to believe that little moths crawl in your ears and eat your brains when you are asleep
When I was in early grade school, my parents were on a very tight budget. It was so tight that my Mom used to have my father and I bring home our ziplock bags. She'd wash them out each evening and hang them up on the shower curtain rod to dry over night. Since the bathroom was right next to my parents room, they had taught me to never turn on the bathroom light when I had to use it at night... Bet you can see where this is going... One night I went in there saw the bags hanging on the rod (throught the very dim window light) and freaked! I thought that they were BATS! For months following that incident I was afraid to go to the bathroom at night - even though I knew it was just those darn ziplock bags!
When I was small,I thought caterpillars came out of their cocoon with wings aned their caterpillar bodies.Freaky...
I used to believe that stickbugs were really Russian spies, and they contained a bomb in them, so if you hurt the stickbug you would die with the bomb!
Still to this day I wont lick envelopes bc I was told when I was younger that a woman licked one and cut her tongue and the enveloper had roach eggs on it and it got in her cut. Since it was warm in her mouth the eggs hatched and lots of cockroaches crawled out of her mouth. Ewww!
I used to think dragonflies could steal your voice
I used to believe that under the bed there were small 1 legged bugs that hopped around. They had a circular body and they had a little sphere that was yellow that went into the leg and the center. If you were good that day they would give you a nice dream. If you were bad then they would give you a nightmare and possibly, embarassing sleepwalks.- hope no one minds about it being in creepy crawlies
i had a dream when i was really little about 3 huge bees and they were talking- saying that they were going to sting me if i didnt love them... my mom woke me up out of this dream telling me i was talking in my sleep saying "i love you! please dont sting me!" i never once thought: "WHOA TALKING BEES!" i just listened to them and to this day i never got stung by a bee! i swear! and i dont kill any bugs either... just in case.
I used to believe that each night when I went to sleep two giant daddy long legs spiders (who also bore a striking resemblance to snufalufagus hid in our furnace room and just waited to come out and stare at us as we slept.
I always thought that roaches were out to get me, especially at night. I would put my sheets and blankets in different ways so as to either trick the roaches or keep them out. To trick them, I would put the sheet on bottom and an afghan on top. To keep them out, I would put the afghan on bottom and the sheet on top. I don't know how I decided on which method per night.
