I've been to a lot of Catholic parishes and when I sang this traditional hymn, <i>Forty Days and Forty Nights<i>, I long ago thought the first line went "Forty plays and forty fights..." As a Catholic, I wouldn't do that in church!
A childhood belief about hymns

others believed things like this
- I used to believe the local Catholic church was Disney Land.— Sherri
- I used to think that the line in the song "Life in the Fast Lane" was "Fights in the Bat Plane".Anon
- I used to believe God had a pet tortoise. There was a hymn we sang that went "Great things he hath taught us"— Lozza
- My mother, the good Catholic, thought that Jesus, being a string bean (supreme being) was really skinny.— Mark D
- That you start out Catholic and after you reach a certain age you then become Protestant.Anon
- I used to think God and Jesus were the same person. And I grew up Catholic.— Jackie Mullinix/st louis
