i used to believe that a snake lived along the bottom of my duvet and that if my feet poked out, it would bite them. to combat this i had the fold the duvet in around me like a cocoon. oh and big ted was the only person who could protect me in case the snake got in - i still sleep with him and i'm 27!

I used to think that there was a factory where toys, who were alive, were tortured and torn apart by an evil talking dog who oversaw the operation. I didn't stop believing this until my mother forced me to clean underneath of my bed, and I didn't find him there. Ha!

my mom and dad had friends that lived down the street from us. they had a son who was about my age (3-5 at the time)and they would often come over to visit in the evening. around 8 or 9 pm they would put us to bed in my full size bed to sleep while they stayed to play cards. one night he told me that there were wolves underneath my bed and that if i let my feet or arms dangle they would bite me. to this day i cant let any of my body parts hang off the side of my bed.

When I was young, I used to believe that there was a bear behind my bed. My dad had to come and check before I entered my room.

top belief!

I used to believe, like any other child, that there were monsters under my bed, except I believed that they were just misunderstood and I could make friends with them if I tried. So I would persistently stay awake at night and try to hear the monsters coming so I could say hello.

i used to think that if my eyes were still open when the light was turned off to go to sleep, i would be able to see monsters. i always tried to fall asleep facing a wall, just in case, and i still do to this day!

When I was a child I was convinced that there were very large and angry monsters under my bed but they could only come out if the lights were off and they could only get me if my feet were touching the ground. I was fine all day until it came time for bed, where I would have to turn off the lights and walk across the room to the bed. I was sure the monsters would get me during this brief time of darkness, so I devised all sorts of ways to get from the light switch to the bed without touching the floor. I normally just jumped to the bed but when my bed was moved farther away I would place an object in the middle, climb on that and then jump to the bed (it was usually a small step ladder). Sometimes I would climb on my dresser and nightstand to avoid touching the floor. To this day I still don't like crossing a dark room so I turn on a light next to the bed, turn off the main lights and then get into bed and shut off the light within reach.

when i was younger, if i woke up in the night i would always run to my parents room..along the way was the heater/air conditioner and if it was running as i went by i thought there was an old man that lived inside and was screaming so i would run by as fast and quietly as i could so he wouldn't be able to kill me

Even as a very small child, I was very bright and I loved reading. Unfortunately, I never really reined in what I read so in a few days I would read the Dictionary, part of the Bible, some random sci-fi I found, and of course, the ever-present Goosebumps books. I was fine with the fairly tame ones- but the dummies, killer masks and such were too much for me. I created a posse of my favorite characters to protect my bed, and to this day, at the age of 11, I still need my little gang of helpful hobbits, gentlemen thieves, aliens and brave young soldiers and pirates to keep me from having bad dreams. Ah, youth.

When I was young I used to get very scared at night in my bed! I hated the dark and used to always hear noises and think there was a robber or murderer or monster/alien or something coming up the stairs to get me. I would hide under the bed sheets and tuck them all underneath me so no part of my body was exposed. Escpecially in the summer, I would get extremely hot and sweat and not be able to get to sleep, but I thought it was safer that way. How silly! hehe

When i was little, i used to believe that in the case of a serial killer, monster, or various other demonic beings, that i could get hurt by them if my feet werent covered. And if i were to be attacked, the blanket over the head was a sure form of protection.

Also, if i was alone somewhere and heard a noise, i thought that freezing and not moving or looking at anything would keep me safe.

When I was small, I heard about the death of Lincoln and afterwards John Wilkes Booth was under my bed. I believed that he was hired by the government to get my blood because I was somehow special.
There was a red spot on my blanket that I thought was blood (it was actually the lips of a giant face, superimposed on the comforter), and if he touched that he could then pull me from the bed and get what he needed. I even thought that there were cameras watching my every move!
Eventually, when I was nine, we came to an agreement where he wouldn't get me if I was sleeping or if the lights were on, and I left the lights on for days until he gave up and went away.

I used to believe that there were vampires under my bed. I always ran and took a flying leap into bed so that they couldn't grab me before my "army" of stuffed animals could protect me.
